Juan Lago

Spanish born pianist Juan Lago is a graduate of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam where he studied during 5 years under Jan Wijn. In Spain his main teachers were Juan J. Peralta (Conservatorio Superior de Málaga) and Ana Guijarro (Real Conservatorio Superior de Madrid). He has also worked under the direction of Gyorgy Sebok, Stanislav Pochekin, Imre Rohmann, Claudio Martínez Mehner and Leonel Morales.

As a Laureate of the VI “Spanish Composers” International Piano Competition in Las Rozas (Madrid, Spain), XXIII “Valsesia-Musica” International Music Competition in Varallo (Italy), XX “Cidade de Ferrol” International Piano Competition (Spain) and IX “A. Scriabin” International Piano Competition in Grosseto (Italy), Juan Lago made his first European tour and his first CD recording released by “Radio Clásica” Spanish National Radio.

Juan Lago is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Campillos International Piano Competition since 2007, the Paterna Piano Prize and the Director of the Piano Department at the Valencia International Performance Academy and Festival (VIPA) in Spain. From 1999 Juan Lago is a faculty member of the José Iturbi Conservatory in Valencia (Spain). His pupils have been awarded more tan 100 top prizes in national and international piano competitions.
