Alexander Jansen

(Conservatorium van Amsterdam, free entrance)

3 February at 13:30 hrs (selection round Junior, Haitinkzaal)

Alexander Jansen (Utrecht, 2005) has played piano since he was seven. He was enchanted by music from a very young age. His mother is a pianist and gave him his first piano lessons; his grandfather was a conductor and his uncle a flute player and saxophonist. Alexander likes to compose his own music on the piano. When he was eight, he started at the Kathedrale Koorschool in Utrecht. In 2017 he won, together with the choir of the Koorschool, the international competition Young Bohemia in Prague. Alexander has been a pupil of Marjès Benoist since 2016 and in September 2017 he was admitted to the Academie Muzikaal Talent at the Utrechts Conservatorium. Alexander has played in Tivoli Vredenburg Utrecht, Akousticum in Ede, the Parade in Den Bosch and in Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam where he played in the final of Het Concertgebouw Concours 2018. In September 2018, Alexander performed with an orchestra conducted by Manuel Visser in Den Bosch with Le Carnaval des Animauxfrom SaintSaëns. Last December he played in the final of the NBE composition competition for which he was selected with two of his compositions for piano and orchestra. Playing piano and composing for piano and other instruments is his greatest passion.
