Carlos Marín Rayo

Carlos Marín Rayo (1994, Spain) is currently studying with Frank van de Laar at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Previously, his main mentors were Mariana Gurkova, Nino Kereselidze and Graham Jackson.

At the age of 11 he received the first prize at the Hazen-Arturo Soria competition and has since won several (first) prizes, including the ‘Ciudad de Albacete – Jeunesses Musicales’ (2016) competition, ‘Euterpe International Piano Competition’ (2016) in Corato (Italy) and the competition ‘Marisa Montiel – Ciudad de Linares’ (2018). In 2019 he won the 2nd prize and the audience prize at the YPF Piano Competition in Amsterdam.

Carlos has played in the important halls of Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the United States, Australia, among others.

As a soloist he played concerts by, for example, Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Liszt, Beethoven, Mozart, Saint-Saens, Shostakovich and Stravinsky. Carlos has performed with ensembles such as the Orquesta Ciudad de Almería, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam Orchestra, Joven Orquesta de Córdoba, Camerata Eutherpe, Concerto Moderno, Joven Orquesta Leonesa, Joven Orquesta Mediterránea, conducted by maestros such as Michael Thomas and Cesar Viana.

Carlos followed masterclasses with Enrico Pace, Ramón Coll, Eldar Nebolsin, Frank Wibbaut, Alexander Kandelaki, Claudio Martínez Mehner, Ana Guijarro, Joshua Edelman, Marta Zabaleta, Inocencio Javier Negrín, María Zisi and Bruno Vlahek.
