BIOGRAPHY

Jasper van der Klis (Alphen aan den Rijn, 1991) discovered the piano at the age of 13 during music lessons in high school. He took piano lessons for five years at the Streekmuziekschoolin Alphen aan den Rijn with Heleen de Korte. At the age of 19 he started his studies at the Utrechts Conservatorium with Sebastián Colombo. He has followed masterclasses at home and abroad with well-known pianists during participation in festivals such as The International Holland Music Sessions and the North London Piano School. Jasper has given recitals at the Hertz Hall in Tivoli Vredenburg, St. James’s Church (Piccadilly London) and the University of Barcelona. He received his Bachelor of Music at the Utrechts Conservatorium with Sebastián Colombo and Alan Weiss, after which he received his Masters in Music from Peter Bithell at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. Jasper has been working on his doctoral research at the same school since September 2017. His studies abroad are supported by scholarships from the Guildhall School Trust and the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds.
