Philip Karmanov

Philip Karmanov (2004, Netherlands) discovered his love for piano at the age of six. This passion was solidified in 2015 when he met the Russian piano teacher Alexandr Pashkov. Following an honorable mention at the Prinses Christina Concours in 2017, Philip joined the Academie Muzikaal Talent in Utrecht, where he studied under Marjès Benoist. After five years of intensive training, he was accepted into the Conservatorium van Amsterdam to study with Frank van de Laar, where he is currently in his third year of the Bachelor’s program. Philip has achieved remarkable success in various competitions. He won first prizes at the YPF Junior Competition in 2019 and the Piano Competition of the Low Countries in 2023, as well as a second prize at the RPM Piano Competition in Sanremo in 2024, and third prize at the Prinses Christina Concours in 2021. At home, Philip practices on a Bösendorfer grand piano, generously provided on loan by the Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds (NMF), a testament to his exceptional talent and dedication to music.
