Yang Yang Cai (Zutphen, 1998) started playing the piano at the age of five with Noor Relijk. In 2009 she took piano lessons with Jan Wijn. Since 2015 she has studied with him at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Yang Yang has followed masterclasses with, among others, Matti Raekallio, Jerome Rose, Mikhail Voskresensky, Jacques Rouvier, Dominique Merlet, Igor Roma, Frédéric Chiu, Klaus Hellwig, Boris Berman and Arie Vardi. In 2006 she won in her category first prize at the Nationaal Concours Jong Muziektalent. In 2008 she won first prize at the Steinway Pianoconcours, after which she represented the Netherlands at the International Steinway Festival. In 2013, Yang Yang won the Junior Finale of the YPF Piano Competition. In 2017 she received the Classic Young Masters Award. She has participated in the International Holland Music Sessions, Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, Festival Wonderfeel, Festival Jong Talent Schiermonnikoog and International Chamber Music Festival Schiermonnikoog. She has played in the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Het Concertgebouw, Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, the DeLaMar theatre and the KoninklijkTheater Carré. This summer Yang Yang participated in Aspen Music School and Festival (USA). Since 2013, Yang Yang has formed a permanent duo with cellist Alexander Warenberg. She also plays with Shin Sihan and Alexander Warenberg in the Amsterdam Piano Trio.
