Young Virtuosi serie – Alexandra Kaptein

On Sunday, April 2, at 3 p.m., Alexandra Kaptein will take her place behind Youri Egorov’s grand piano and open the third edition of the Young Virtuosi series organized by YPF to provide young talented pianists with a stage, a chance to further develop themselves and gain experience.

Alexandra Kaptein (1999, Netherlands) began piano lessons at the age of five. At the age of six she already won her first prize at the ‘Jugend musiziert’ piano competition in Germany. This was the beginning of a long series of national and international piano competitions throughout Europe. For example, she won the first prize of the ‘Von Bremen Piano Competition’ in Dortmund, Germany and of the ‘EPTA International Piano Competition’ 2016 in Belgium and won the first prize and audience prize in the ‘International Piano Competition for Young Musicians’ in Enschede. In 2017 she won the first prize, audience prize and Franz Liszt Prize in the final of ‘Coffee at the Piano’ in Den Bosch, the Netherlands. In 2018, Alexandra won the first prize and special jury prize in the final of the ‘Geertruidenberg Classical Competition’. And in 2019 she also won the first prize in the International Competition in Val Tidone ‘Silvio Bengali’ Italy.

Alexandra participates in many master classes and music festivals in Greece, Italy, Poland and Germany and performs in solo concerts in the Netherlands and Germany. She also performed on the Dutch radio station of Radio 4 (AVRO/TROS).

Since 2019, she has been studying with Frank van de Laar. In 2020, Alexandra graduated cum laude from the ArtEZ Conservatory of Music in Zwolle and is currently doing her Masters’ with Frank van de Laar at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, Netherlands. In 2020, Alexandra also started a second bachelor’s degree, Theory of Music at the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague and works partly as a repetitor in ArtEZ Conservatory Zwolle. In October 2022, Alexandra joined the board of the Franz Liszt Society in the Netherlands.

YPF Young Virtuosi Series

In 2021 the YPF launched the Young Virtuosi series for YPF laureates and top young pianists, the ‘Young Virtuosi’, in which they are given the promised opportunity through concerts and master classes to further develop their craftsmanship and bring out the best in themselves. A great success.

Concerts

The concerts will take place in De Duif at Prinsengracht 756 in Amsterdam. During the six concerts, YPF laureates and top young pianists will play on the grand piano of legendary pianist Youri Egorov, who died in Amsterdam at the age of 33
