Young Virtuosi Series – Juan Pedro García Oliva

On Sunday, June 4, Juan Pedro García Oliva will play in the YPF Young Virtuosi series. At 3 p.m., he will take his seat behind Youri Egorov’s grand piano in De Duif and play the program below in this third edition of the Young Virtuosi series organized by YPF to offer young talented pianists a stage, a chance to develop further and gain experience. Doors open at 2.30 p.m. Ticket sales also at the door.

Born in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (2001, Spain), pianist Juan Pedro García Oliva is one of the most prominent young classical musicians in Spain and abroad. He has received numerous awards in national and international piano competitions. He has recently been awarded the 1st prize, audience prize, best performance of chamber music prize, and best performance of Reza Navamar’s Ti’afa’a prize at the YPF European Piano Competition 2022 – Grand Prix Youri Egorov 2022 in Amsterdam.

He has attended many masterclasses by musicians such as Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Denis Kozhukhin, Boris Berman, Aleksandar Madzar, Eugene Indjic, James Giles,  David Kuyken and Robert Kulek, among others.

Juan Pedro has performed in important venues such as Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam (Kleine Zaal and Grote Zaal), Teatro Villamarta (Jerez de la Frontera), Palacio de San Telmo (Sevilla), ADDA Auditorium (Alicante), and Museu do Oriente (Lisbon) and played at several festivals, among which SIPO (Portugal) and Sipiano (Switzerland). Moreover, he has appeared as soloist in venues such as Auditorio Nacional de Música (Madrid) together with Orquesta de Cámara ‘Andrés Segovia’ under the baton of Víctor Ambroa, and Muziekgebouw (Amsterdam) together with Phion Orkest under the baton of Antony Hermus.

He studied at the Conservatory of Music ‘Joaquin Villatoro’ in Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) with Eduardo Rodríguez. Since 2019, Juan Pedro is studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (The Netherlands) under the guidance of Dutch pianist Frank van de Laar. He is also currently specializing at the Accademia del Ridotto in Stradella (Italy) with Boris Berman.

YPF Young Virtuosi Series

In 2021 the YPF launched the Young Virtuosi series for YPF laureates and top young pianists, the ‘Young Virtuosi’, in which they are given the promised opportunity through concerts and master classes to further develop their craftsmanship and bring out the best in themselves. Concerts

The concerts will take place in De Duif at Prinsengracht 756 in Amsterdam. During the six concerts, YPF laureates and top young pianists will play on the grand piano of legendary pianist Youri Egorov, who died in Amsterdam at the age of 33
