Juan Pedro García Oliva (2022)

Juan Pedro García Oliva (2001, Spain) is winner of the First Prize, the Audience Prize, the Prize for the Best Performance of Chamber Music as well as the Prize for the Best Performance of Reza Navamar’s Ti’afa’a at the YPF European Piano Competition 2022.

Juan Pedro started playing the piano at the age of eight. In 2013, he started at the ‘Joaquin Villatoro’ Conservatory in Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) with Eduardo Rodríguez. Since 2019, Juan Pedro has been studying at the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music with Frank van de Laar. He is also currently specialising at the Accademia del Ridotto in Stradella (Italy) with Boris Berman.

He took master classes with musicians such as Eugene Indjic, James Giles, Chang-Rok Moon, Juan Lago, Boris Berman, David Kuyken, Miguel A. Ortega Chavaldas, Alexander Kandelaki, Manuela Gouveia, Kennedy Moretti, Robert Kulek, Patrín García- Barredo and Anna Fedorova.

Juan Pedro has won several prizes in national and international piano competitions held in Albacete, Seville, Alicante and Madrid (Spain), and abroad in Portugal, Italy and the Netherlands.

He has played at important venues in Spain, such as ‘Teatro Villamarta’ in Jerez de la Frontera, ‘Palacio de San Telmo’ in Seville, ‘Centro Cultural la Asunción’ Albacete, ‘Auditorio Nacional de Música’ in Madrid and ‘ ADDA’ auditorium in Alicante.

Since November 2020, he has had a Grotrian-Steinweg grand piano on loan from the National Musical Instruments Fund (NMF). Juan Pedro is supported by several institutions that help him continue his studies abroad, including the scholarship offered by the Ministry of Education and Culture of ‘Junta de Andalucía’, ‘Musicians of Tomorrow’ and the scholarship offered by ‘Juventudes Musicales de Madrid’, which was presented to him by Queen Sofia of Spain.
