A cherished tradition at the YPF European Piano Competition is a piano recital performed by members of the jury and Thomas Beijer, known as A Tribute to Youri Egorov. Top pianists will play in this concert, including Severin von Eckardstein, Nino Gvetadze, Einav Garden and Hannes Minnaar. A unique evening for all piano lovers.
Youri Egorov, a Russian pianist who fled to our country in 1976, passed away in Amsterdam in 1988 at the age of 33 due to AIDS-related complications. He was a piano prodigy who died far too soon, and many people both here and abroad still remember him with admiration and sadness. The Dutch writer Jan Brokken wrote the beautiful book In the House of the Poet about him. The Young Pianist Foundation manages the legacy of Egorov and honours him with this unique tribute concert.
